Medium mirrors the philosophy of ZipMinis.
An internet revolution is imminent, and ZipMinis intends to fight on the side of knowledge and empowerment.

I wrote recently that the co-founders of Twitter had launched a new platform that showcases high quality content. The platform still remains in a bare-bones beta version, but the philosophy that underpins Medium.com is powerful, and is sort of a mantra here at ZipMinis.

Tech Crunch characterized the startup as "a publishing platform that collects submitted text and images into themed collections so you don’t need a following to be heard." While this does not quite capture the vision of Medium.com, the authors point us in a direction that Stone and Williams further develop.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Stone and Williams spoke candidly of their vision of the internet, both strengths and weaknesses. They comment on the cesspool of information that is the internet, but they wisely point to the tremendous content that has the potential to make us the smartest creatures to inhabit earth (that we know of). Points of infection do not necessarily disease the whole individual.

The problem, however, is in navigating and negotiating to locate the potent information that empowers us as human beings to be better and more productive. "It’s easy to forget this given how much pointless and destructive media is in the world," but we have the capacity as writers, readers, bloggers, and participants in the social media to change the way that we are able to access media -  designed and ordered information that adds to our who we are on planet earth. This is certainly true, but change, a revolution of sorts is required.

And, Medium.com hopes to be a tool in accessing the value that lies embedded in infinite nooks on the internet: "We want to help high-quality content succeed and get attention. Not everybody can write." While on the surface, this may sound a bit elitist, in the context of the interview it enables, ironically,  the further "democratization of the internet," putting more power into the hands of readers and writers to organize and design the chaos.

We hope that Medium succeeds in this as well as those of you out there with a like mind. At ZipMinis we are devoted to filtering and reviewing content, not to limit the open market of free speech, but to provide better ways to access quickly the best that is available. We elevate humanity as a whole in the process.

What are your thoughts on the current state of the internet?
