Cutting is rule #1 in resumes.
Mines the cutting tools most job applicants need to make their resume successful in acquiring an interview.

Notes that the first thing to go should be the objective or summary statement as most employers skip past them, followed by activities and awards that are not job related. The employer wants to get to know you, but as a potential employee.

Lose the extra and extravagant formatting, focusing instead on a clean, professional look that is easy to read and scan. Bullets and bold are good ideas as they make the document easier to read.

Avoid job or task descriptions, focusing rather on how, why, and what you did to benefit the company and set yourself apart.
