Zen vs. Tech
Oh, the new iPhone. I love technology and gadgets so much that I sicken myself with my materialism. I've been silent for a while on these pages, largely because I have become jaded by all the new tech products: previews, leaks, pre-releases, releases, press conferences, and conferences.

I'm not condemning others at all, as "I" the consumer am the rotten milk that turns my gut - reading for months about the new iPhone rumored iPhone. Then, wallowing in the minute by minute details for the past 48 hours, Apple mesmerizing me with information that has been (re)reported  for the past six months.

I do love Apple, Google, etc. I own an iTouch, the new iPad, and two Macbook Pros, the latest 15" inch with the retina screen - simply dazzling.

However, I implicate myself as a cog in the wheel of mass consumerism that drives our economy, and I daily surrender myself to the advertising that exploits me and tells me what to think and the products to buy.

So, I made a small and somewhat meaningless move as an act of self flagellation. Where tech and gadgets once held a primary slot on the ZipMinis banner, along side the equally problematic Social Media, they have now become a subdivision - so subversive and bold am I.

I maintain a divided self, driven to consume and sickened by my appetite. For a time, any way, I am going to solve a small part of my problem and abstain from technological gluttony.

I resolve not to buy any new phone, not because I don't want one. But, because I so desperately do.

"Apple Just Told Everyone Not To Buy An iPhone For Two Months"
"After Rene Ritchie at iMore broke the news that Apple was planning an event to announce the next iPhone for September 12, other news outlets confirmed his report citing a source familiar with the matter."

Mines the rumors that have been quietly confirmed by Apple, finding that they are silently recommending not to by a new iPhone for a month or two.
Notes that the anticipated iPhone will have a larger screen and fast 4G LTE wireless, the new release dropping the price of past models, and Apple has confirmed a special conference for the release in September.

"Mountain Lion’s New File System"
" The Document Library removes the need to narrow your search using extensions, and the need to think about where to put your files. The ubiquity of iCloud and the Versions feature removes the need to manually version files using different file names."

Mines, at length, Mountain Lion's move away from traditional folder systems and towards a model that is fast and intuitive
Notes that the system is similiar to iCloud in that it has one level of folders embedded within each application, a radical move away from grouping files by similarity primarily, resulting in a system that is easy to use quickly.
