General and emotional intellect correlated.
Mines the relationship of general and emotional intelligences through study of Vietnam Vets with brain injuries, finding that the distinct intelligences once perceived as independent are connected.

Notes that researchers found major correlations between general and emotional intelligences in terms of behavioral patterns and brain structure.

Participants who scored higher on the general intelligence tests also demonstrated higher achievement on the assessment of emotional intelligence. Further, similar brain areas were important to both, areas in the frontal and parietal cortices, in the front and top, back of the brain.

The testing was complex and even involved 3D modelings of the patients' brains. The significant findings shed light on the "interdependence of general and emotional intelligence in the healthy mind."

Although this correlation was intuited by some, most scholars found the powerful link surprising.
